BANANA REPUBLIC Inspired by Palm Springs, pop prints, and mid-century design, the lively, colorful and chic Banana Republic Trina Turk Collection was a true reflection of the sophisticated ease of summer 2012. Trina’s signature prints and Palm Springs’ ‘cocktails by the pool’ aesthetic was the key inspiration as Trina reinvigorated iconic prints and celebrated styles from the archives that would best represent the Trina Turk brand and appeal to the Banana Republic customer. Almost 60 limited-editions of apparel and accessories completed the capsule collection of bright, covetable and unique pieces featured in 450 stores worldwide.
GRACE BAY CLUB Trina Turks and Caicos for the Grace Bay Club toyed with Trina’s surname and her design of an exclusive new print for the resort, inspired by the Caribbean’s playful beach lifestyle and the resort's sophisticated aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from the Turks & Caicos’ translucent blue waters, white sand beaches and terracotta architectural accents, the result is a captivating, limited-edition signature print. The seven-piece capsule collection features mix-and-match bikini separates, a wrap one-piece swimsuit, a kimono-sleeve tunic and ankle-length maxi dress that embody the brilliant color palette and unmistakable optimism that is a Trina Turk trademark.
REX RAY San Francisco artist Rex Ray and Trina Turk were destined to collaborate, given their alliterative names and mutual love of the vintage vibe and vibrant color. His rich hued, retro-futuristic designs meld perfectly with Trina's optimistic, mid-century aesthetic and bold palettes. Together they created a multi-colored, modern peacock/paisley print, inspired by one of his paintings, for the Trina Turk Swim collection; the oval, textured gold hardware for the line was also pulled from the print itself. The first endeavor included bikini tops and bottoms, one-piece options and a stylish ice bucket.
As part of an exclusive collaboration with Dempsey & Carroll, Trina created a limited-edition set of fine quality stationery engraved on natural fiber papers that showcased the beautiful prints for which she is known. The Ogee Correspondence Cards featured a diamond motif echoed by the negative space of the bold liner pattern in citron or peacock colorways. The Coachella Correspondence Card included orange and pink hand-bordered note cards accenting the fluorescent hues of a spontaneous paisley on the envelope liners. A portion of the proceeds benefited PS Arts (www.psarts.org), a non-profit organization committed to improving children's lives through arts education.
