The Trina Turk Atlanta Boutique in Buckhead is the brand’s eighth location and unveils a new store concept—a fresh and neutral backdrop inspired by the work of Richard Neutra and Donald Wexler, with visual and tactile sophistication created by subtle textures. MR Architecture + Décor, which also designed the Trina Turk Bal Harbour and Dallas stores, created a free-flowing space with a rich palette of contrasting elements in the 2,100 square foot store. Concrete block screens are positioned next to soft grey silk tussah walls. A sparkling, woven brass canopy floats above the smooth cream colored clay surface of herringbone patterned brick flooring blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors.

Trina Turk’s seventh retail location was inspired by the work of Morris Lapidus and mid-century Miami. Open in May 2010, the modernist architecture of the Bal Harbour Shops reflects Trina’s vintage-inspired sensibility. MR Architecture & Décor ably translated Trina Turk’s southern California beach aesthetic to its Miami counterpart, creating an accessible, unintimidating glamour with white accented by lime and aqua tones. Curved soffit lighting, concrete block latticework, vintage metal sunbursts and white terrazzo tiles convey fresh, effortless chic and fun. There’s even a special “guy sitting area” so gals can shop worry-free. It should be no surprise that the Bal Harbour location is now the #1 Trina Turk swimwear store.

Trina Turk’s first and only northern California outpost features a Big Sur vibe as its predominant inspiration. Modernist Los Angeles architect Barbara Bestor suspended striking, whitewashed beams from the ceiling and lined the walls with diagonal planks of reclaimed barn redwood in this suburban location halfway between San Francisco and Palo Alto. The Burlingame Avenue location, opened in July 2009, showcases a floor-to-ceiling glass exterior with dynamic and playful show windows, revitalizing retail in the newly revamped pedestrian neighborhood. Trina Turk made a colorful splash in New York in December 2006, with her third signature boutique and first East Coast location. MR Architecture & Décor renovated the 1880’s landmark in lower Manhattan allowing Trina to showcase her coveted California flair in the historic, cobblestoned Meatpacking District. A fan of designer Jonathan Adler’s work at the Parker Palm Springs hotel, Trina felt his uninhibited style was a perfect match for her 1970s California vision for the urban East Coast. Fusing vintage and modern sensibilities into their creations, both share a love of vibrant palettes. Their collaborative efforts have resulted in white textures layered with splashes of teal, lichen green, mustard, coral and brown.  Chic yet organic and natural motifs include macramé, sunburst carved doors salvaged from the Alan Ladd building in Palm Springs and a unique scrap lumber tree sculpture by Malcolm Hill in the rear alcove.
